‘Things Aren’t Adding Up’: Matthew Perry's Ex Girlfriend Kayti Edwards On Actor's Death
Weeks after Matthew’s death, the actor’s former girlfriend Kayti Edwards claimed that the actor "may have taken pills" at the time of his death.

The sudden death of Matthew Perry, renowned for his role in F.R.I.E.N.D.S, has left a profound void for both his loved ones and devoted fans. The actor, aged 54, tragically passed away on October 28. Reportedly, his body was discovered in a “hot tub” at his Los Angeles residence. Despite the subsequent release of his death certificate, the cause of death remains unclear. The entertainment industry, along with Perry’s acquaintances, has mourned his loss, offering heartfelt condolences and fond remembrances. Notably, Kayti Edwards, the actor’s former girlfriend, has suggested the possibility of a relapse at the time of his demise.

In an interview with the UK Sun, Kayti Edwards said, “I know Matthew, and I know that he wouldn’t have just drowned. I think he might have taken pills in the week leading up to this.” Kayti Edwards claims to have dated Matthew Perry briefly in 2006 after meeting at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

According to initial toxicology findings, there was no presence of meth or fentanyl in Matthew Perry’s body, yet the precise cause of his death remains elusive pending further comprehensive testing. Amid this uncertainty, Kayti Edwards, the actor’s former girlfriend, has expressed scepticism, stating, “Things aren’t adding up…They said there were no prescription painkillers at the scene, which doesn’t surprise me because he didn’t leave drugs lying around.”

Kayti Edwards has shed light on Matthew Perry’s final Instagram post, suggesting that it contained hints pointing to a possible relapse. The post, shared just before his demise, featured a photo of Perry in a jacuzzi with the caption, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.” Edwards has remarked that the use of the term “Mattman” was not consistent with Perry’s behaviour when he was sober. Kayti said, “That Mattman thing was not something he did when he was sober. Mattman would come out when he was not sober and he felt kind of invincible.”

Kayti said that she was with him at times when he was high, and when she suggested he should take it easy on the drugs, he would say, “‘No, I’m Mattman’.” Further, the model states that he preferred to be in water when he was intoxicated.

Kayti Edwards has revealed that she was with Matthew Perry during times when he was under the influence, recalling instances when she advised him to be cautious with drugs, to which he would reportedly respond with, “No, I’m Mattman.”

Reportedly, the death certificate defines the cause of death as ‘deferred,’ implying that further investigation and impending toxicology findings are required to determine the exact reasons that led to his death. The document confirms that he was laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles. His close family and F.R.I.E.N.D.S attended the private funeral service. Matthew Perry’s final resting place is adjacent to Warner Bros. Studios, where F.R.I.E.N.D.S was filmed. The actor has been in several TV shows and films throughout the years, but he is best known as Chandler Bing from the sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S, which ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004.
