Imran Khan Reveals Ajay Devgn Was First Choice For Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Says ‘I Didn’t Even Watch…’
Imran Khan shared a photo of himself as Matru and penned a long note revealing about the film and its casting.

Imran Khan has been trending for his nostalgic posts. He always shares Behind The Scene pictures from the set of his films and makes fans go aww. But today, he made a shocking revelation about his role in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. He revealed that he was never supposed to be Matru in the film as it was first offered to Ajay Devgn which he declined. Imran also mentioned that his casting was based more on the budget.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Imran shared a photo of himself as Matru and wrote, “I was never supposed to be Matru. The film was launched with Ajay Devgn attached as Matru, but he chose to withdraw before filming could commence. I was riding high off the back-to-back successes of Delhi Belly and MBKD, and close to wrapping the shoot of EMAET when I got the call; Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to meet me! I was thrilled. He told me about his passion project, a story he had been carrying close to his heart.”

Fans came out in support of their favourite actor Imran. One of them wrote, “Loved the entire process of Matru Imran, it was a pleasure being a part of it.You are an amazing person and a custodian of dignity and passion. Picture toh abhi baaki hai. Love and only love.” Another wrote, “These throwbacks are extremely meaningful because while we all watched and loved the movies you did for us back then, we didn’t look any further, at the challenges and inner turmoil you took on. Truly shows how difficult the industry can be, but believe me, you’ve done incredibly well! I hope when the time comes, you’ll be back with a bang “

Recently, during a conversation with The Lallantop, Vishal Bhardwaj explained, “I feel we all are a bit biased. We have been conditioned to think a certain way about Imran. I am not saying he is Uttam Kumar or Dilip Kumar, but we have been conditioned. He has never said that he is a weak actor.”

Directed by Visha Bhardwaj, the film was released in 2013 and also stars Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapur. The film failed to create any magic at the box office.
