Indian star batsman Virat Kohli climbed to the second spot in the golden bat race with 442 runs under his belt in the tournament as he added a brilliant 88 off 94 deliveries against the Lankan Lions.

Team India claimed a mammoth 302-run win over Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

The men in blue put up a total of 357 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs before bundling out the opposition for a mere 55 runs in 19.4 overs.

Three batsmen from the Indian camp crossed the half-century mark with Shubman Gill scoring 92, Virat Kohli making 88 and Shreyas Iyer adding 82 runs to help India to the mountainous total.

The Indian bowling unit did a splendid job wrapping up the Sri Lankan innings in stunning fashion as Mohammed Shami removed five Lankan batters while conceding just 18 runs in his 5 overs.

Mohammed Siraj scalped 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja finished with one wicket each.

Golden Bat:

South African opener Quinton de Kock sits atop the run scoring charts with a massive 545 runs to his name, thanks to his four tons at the ongoing ICC showpiece event.

Golden Ball:

Sri Lankan bowler Dilshan Madhushanka, who claimed the scalps of the Indian top order on Thursday, climbed to the top of the wicket-takers standings with a total of 18 wickets in the event. Pakistan seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi comes in second with a tally of 16 wickets.

South African pacer Marco Janses and Australian spinner Adam Zampa, who also have 16 dismissals to their name in the campaign come in at positions three and four respectively.

Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who ended the game against Sri Lanka with a wicket to his credit has amassed 15 wickets in the ODI tournament and polishes off the top 5 of the wicket takers’ table.
