A fire was reported from the 14th floor of a 21-storey residential building situated near Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s residence ‘Mannat’ in Mumbai’s Bandra Bandstand area on Monday evening. The fire broke out in the Jivesh Building around 7:45 pm. No casualties have been reported yet.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) rushed to the spot after the incident was reported. Police, ambulances as well as civic ward staff among others were also mobilized. The MFB classified it as a ‘level-II’ fire. Eight fire engines and seven jumbo tankers were pressed into service to control the blaze. Ambulances were also rushed to the spot. Officials of Mumbai civic body, Adani electricity were also present at the spot.
A 31-year-old fireman named Kaushal Khajansingh Rajput suffered from suffocation while dousing the blaze. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Bandra-based Bhabha Hospital confirmed that Rajput suffered suffocation.
When asked about the current status of the fire, a fire official told news agency PTI that the blaze was covered from all sides by 10.25 PM, but the operation is not called off as yet.
