Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki had a non-holiday release and witnessed a good opening day at the box office. The film, which marks SRK’s third release of the year, is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and has collected Rs 30 crores at the box office. The film had recorded a Rs 15.41 crore collection during the advance bookings. As the film clashes with Prabhas’ Salaar, all eyes are on the film to see how it manages to give the Telugu film a competition.
According to Sacnilk.com, the biggest occupancy for Dunki on its day 1 has been recorded in Kolkata. Kolkata witnessed an overall occupancy of 55.25%, followed by Hyderabad (37.75%), Chennai (38%), Chandigarh (34%), NCR (31%), Jaipur (30%), Mumbai (29.75%) and Bengaluru (28%). The highest occupancy was recorded in the night shows. The box office reporting platform also stated that the advance bookings for day 2 are in and the film has recorded Rs 9.05 Cr.
Although good business, Dunki could not beat the opening day records set by Shah Rukh previous two 2023 releases, Pathaan and Jawan. Pathaan recorded an opening day collection of Rs 57 crore whereas Jawan collected Rs 74.50 across all languages in India.
Dunki features an ensemble cast, with colorful characters portrayed by exceptionally talented actors Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, along with Shah Rukh Khan. A JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films presentation, produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan Written by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon, Dunki is now released on the big screen.
