Amid constant buzz for his upcoming release, Devara: Part 1, Jr NTR is capturing everyone’s attention for his interesting revelations. During the promotional tour for the film in Chennai, he opened up about his ‘favourite director’ Vetrimaaran, flashing speculations about their upcoming collaboration together.
While interacting with the media, Jr NTR was questioned whether he would ever do a straight Tamil film. The actor replied, “I am going to ask my favourite director…Vetrimaaran sir, please, do one with me. I will do a straight Tamil film for you. We can dub it in Telugu.”
Even Vetrimaaran, the director, is equally interested in working with the actor. During the promotions for Viduthalai in Hyderabad in 2023, he hinted at a possible collaboration, saying that he met the actor. Vetrimaaran said, “After Asuran, post lockdown, I met NTR and we talked. So, it is bound to happen. But, you know, I take some time to make a film. It takes a long time for me to finish one film and move on to the next. That is the problem. Otherwise, we want to try.”
Further reflecting on the power of cinema to unite the nation despite language differences, Jr NTR said, “We are divided by language but not by cinema anymore. It is not Kollywood, it is not Sandalwood, it is not Bollywood, Tollywood anymore.”
Devara: Part 1 marks the debut of Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in the Telugu industry. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film will be released in theatres on September 26. What adds to the excitement is that Devara also marks Jr NTR’s 30th film. Set against the coastal lands, the film will also feature Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Meka Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Murli Sharma, Shruti Marathe and others. The film will be released in its original Telugu version and other languages like Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Backed by NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts, the film will see Jr NTR’s return to the big screens after the release of the worldwide hit RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli.
