Actor Raghuvaran is a well-known face in the Indian film industry. He is known for his unique acting style, highly loved by the audience. Initially, the actor started his acting career in the roles of leads but mainly gained popularity for his roles in villainous characters. According to a report by News18 Tamil, the veteran actor was initially offered the role of Assistant Commissioner Patil in the film Nayakan which was later played by Nassar. The film was directed by popular film director Mani Ratnam. As per the reports, the director asked Raghuvaran to cut his hair to match perfectly with the role. However, Raghuvaran refused to cut his hair short and thus rejected the role in the film. The film later went on and secured significant attraction from the fans. The film starred popular actors like Kamal Haasan, Saranya Ponvannan, Delhi Ganesh, Karthika and Janakaraj. The film was produced by Muktha V. Ramasami, Muktha V. Srinivasan, and G. Venkateswaran, while the story was penned by director Mani Ratnam himself.
Raghuvaran changed the definition of the physique of a villain in the South Indian film Industry. Earlier, villains were expected to have muscular physiques, and a commanding voice but Raghuvaran broke the stereotype. With his sunken cheeks, towering height, thin physique, and clean-shaven face he played the role of villain which was highly praised by the audiences. With his body language, voice, and expressions he finely portrayed the villainous roles.
The veteran actor has acted alongside Superstar Rajinikanth in several films. His portrayal of the character Mark Anthony in the 1995 film Baasha was highly loved by film critics and his fans. He has worked alongside many well-known actors like Jyotika, Ajith Kumar, Pawan Kalyan, Prakash Raj and Devaraj. Some of his popular works are for Mudhalvan, Amarkalam and Anaganaga Oka Roju. The veteran actor took his last breath on March 19, 2008 in Chennai.
