Popular on-screen duo, superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra appeared in the blockbuster film Sholay. In the movie, Amitabh Bachchan portrays Jai and Dharmendra portrays Veeru, two criminals recruited by a retired police officer to apprehend a dacoit. The film was directed by Ramesh Sippy and written by Salim-Javed. It was produced by Bachchan’s father, GP Sippy. Billed as an action-adventure, Sholay was released in 1975. Amitabh Bachchan once shared a funny anecdote from the sets of Sholay on his show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. He talked about getting stuck in a crowd of around 4,000 people with Dharmendra. The duo had to take a long ride in an auto to reach the shooting location.
During an old episode of the show featuring Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan shared stories from the making of Sholay. He recalled a time when he was in a crowd of 4,000 people who had gathered to see Dharmendra. Amitabh Bachchan admitted that he felt overwhelmed by the large crowd.
Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan even shared how Dharmendra fired from a real gun while shooting for the climax of Sholay. As reported by Filmi Beat, in the episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan shared a story with contestant Preet Mohan Singh, a DIG with CRPF and a big fan of Sholay. During their chat, Big B recounted an incident from the movie’s climax when Dharmendra mistakenly fired a real gunshot. Fortunately, the bullet missed Amitabh Bachchan.
It’s been over 50 years since the iconic film Sholay was released, yet it continues to hold a special place in Hindi cinema. Even today, audiences fondly recall its dialogues.
