Kapil Sharma, known for his wit on his popular show TGIKS, recently opened up about the unique bond he shares with his daughter, Anayra. Born just three months before the pandemic, she quickly became the focal point of his life. In a recent interview, Kapil shared how Anayra has helped him cultivate a skill he never mastered in school.
“Anayra has done what no school could – improve my English. What the universities and colleges couldn’t do, Anayra has managed to do!” Kapil said in an interview with ETimes. He further revealed that his daughter is a devoted fan of singer Ed Sheeran and during his appearance on his show, she excitedly sang Shape Of You and was thrilled to meet the artist behind the scenes.
Kapil who never fails to amuse his audiences with his wit, further revealed that he faces a surprising challenge at home: making his daughter laugh. “When she was a child, it was only Ginni who would make her laugh. And I would wonder, I’m making the whole world laugh, yet my own daughter is not laughing at me. But she is the one who makes me laugh the most. She is very funny,” he said.
During the interview, Kapil shared that when Anayra arrived, he embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly, even taking on the challenges of diaper changes and light-night feedings.
“Right from getting her to burp to putting her to sleep at 5 am, I have done everything. When I see her now, I often feel she is growing up too fast,” Kapil said. Reflecting upon their bond, Kapil expressed how unique and profound the connection between a father and daughter truly is.
“Once you become a father to a daughter, you realise that the love between the two is unparalleled; it is a natural connection. She is the most precious thing to me. She is my biggest blessing. Woh ghar ki raunak hai. Hamare ghar mein betion ko hamesha zyaada pyaar mila hai. (She is the light of our home. In our family, daughters have always received more love) Now I know why.”
Kapil further shared that his children serve as a powerful source of inspiration for his work. When asked if his daughter understands his fame, he revealed that her teachers often mention him. He said that Anayra sees him as a hero and once questioned, “Papa, why do you work?” to which he replied, “To earn money and buy you frocks.” He also chuckled recalling a moment when he packed up his work early, prompting his daughter to ask, “Aaj paise kamayee aapne? (Did you make money today?).”
On the professional front, Kapil has returned with The Great Indian Kapil Show 2, which premiered on Saturday, September 21.
