Coldplay recently turned the Glastonbury music festival in England into a night to remember for the fans on June 29. Known for their cinematic performances, Coldplay took it to the next level this time, creating an unforgettable experience. How? Everyone’s favourite Michael J Fox joined the stage performing alongside the lead singer Chris Martin.

It all started when Chris Martin, before launching into the hit song Humankind, improvised lyrics to playfully acknowledge notable figures in the audience. Among them were Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis and the esteemed Michael J Fox, known for his iconic roles despite battling Parkinson’s Disease since 1991.

“With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox,” frontman Chris Martin said, as per Variety, introducing the star with references to his popular Back to the Future film.

The 63-year-old Fox then joined Coldplay on stage, playing guitar with the group for the song and staying on for a heartfelt rendition of Fix You. Throughout his time on stage, Fox remained seated in a wheelchair.

In a touching tribute during the performance, Coldplay’s frontman expressed, “The main reason we’re in a band is because of ‘Back to the Future.’ So thank you to Michael, our hero.”

Earlier in the evening, Coldplay surprised the audience by bringing out rapper Little Simz to debut a new collaboration rumoured to be titled Supernova. The track, highlighted by the chorus ‘and so we pray,’ also featured a verse by Nigerian singer Burna Boy, who was not present at Glastonbury. Vocal support was provided by Palestinian singer Elyanna.

Before welcoming Simz on stage, the band played a series of their greatest hits, starting with Yellow, transitioning to the heartfelt The Scientist and performing Viva La Vida with a live orchestra. Victoria Canal also joined them for the song Paradise, adding her vocals and piano to the mix.

During their Glastonbury set, Chris Martin made a heartfelt call for peace addressing conflicts in Israel, Palestine, Ukraine and Russia. “Israel or Palestine, to Ukraine or Russia, to anywhere you want,” he said, as reported by Variety.

This performance was significant as Coldplay made history by headlining the Glastonbury Festival for the fifth time.

The event was star-studded, with notable attendees including Tom Cruise, Gillian Anderson and Simon Pegg.

Dakota Johnson was also seen in the crowd, supporting her fiancé Martin and was captured on a livestream watching the performance from the side of the stage.
