Vidya Balan's REVEALS Her Stance On Open Relationships, Says 'If It Works For You, Great, But...'
Vidya Balan discussed the concept of open relationships during a conversation with Pratik Gandhi.

Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi, the stars of Do Aur Do Pyaar, engaged in discussions about their personal lives and experiences on set, in the IMDb original series ‘Ask Each Other Anything’. Their upcoming romantic comedy delves into the dynamics of a husband-wife relationship, with the actors reflecting on their journey during the making of the movie. During one of the segments, Vidya Balan shared her thoughts on the concept of open relationships.

Inquiring about Vidya’s views on the same, Pratik explored her stance on the topic. Vidya expressed her reluctance to embrace the concept, emphasizing her strong belief in monogamy. She highlighted, “I don’t understand the idea of an open relationship. I think you can be open with each other about everything, but when you talk about open relationships and open marriage, you are talking about being okay with your partner being with someone else, sharing your partner with someone else.”

She continued, “I am not okay with that. I am completely monogamous, and I believe in monogamy. I abhor this concept of open relationship. If it works for you, great, but I cannot fathom how it works for someone.”

Vidya also shared her excitement upon learning she would be working with Pratik, praising his performance in ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’. She mentioned how natural and captivating his acting was, making it a seamless experience for her to work alongside him, “I had watched ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ already, so when Tanuj, Atul, and Swati (the producers of the movie) came home, we were discussing various characters, and for the role of Ani, they said ‘we’ve thought about Pratik Gandhi, the guy from Scam 1992.’ I was like, ‘Wow!’ He was fabulous.’ It didn’t feel like you were acting in the series even for a minute. If I didn’t know how Harshad Mehta looked, I would have thought it was you. So, I was very excited.”

The conversation took a turn when Vidya asked Pratik to recommend three must-watch films, to which he suggested ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’, ‘Sadma’, and ‘Hera Pheri’, citing their emotional depth and comic timing as compelling reasons. Pratik also discussed the valuable lessons he learned from theatre, emphasizing the importance of humility, selflessness, and dedication to storytelling in both theatre and cinema.

As for Do Aur Do Pyaar, besides Vidya and Pratik, the film also stars Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy. The trailer shows the couple cheating on each other. Vidya is depicted dating Sendhil, but Pratik falls for Ileana D’Cruz. There are scenes in which all couples struggle hard to make marriage work. When Illeana’s character becomes pregnant, Pratik questions her about who the father is. The slice-of-life romantic comedy depicts the interpersonal turmoil, perplexity, self-doubt, and dissatisfaction of metropolitan lovers.
