'Udta Punjab' Censor Row Was a 'Difficult Experience': Abhishek Chaubey
The Chaubey-helmed film, which deals with the drug problem in Punjab, ran into trouble after the censor board.

Hyderabad: Bollywood Director Abhishek Chaubey has said the row over censoring of his film Udta Punjab was a difficult experience. The Chaubey-helmed film, which deals with the drug problem in Punjab, ran into trouble after the censor board suggested multiple cuts. The matter later reached the Bombay High Court, which cleared the movie with just one cut.

"It was a very difficult experience. I just want that no other filmmaker goes through something like this. The good thing is that the film released, people watched it and appreciated it," he told reporters here on the sidelines of an event.

"I would like to appeal to authorities and Government to find a way so that such a situation does not arise again," he said. Replying to a query, the 39-year-old Director said he saw no conspiracy in the episode or in the "leak" of the film. Those involved in the film's leak should be brought to book, he said.

Chaubey wished the "spirit of unity" (the entire film fraternity supported him) that was seen during the long-drawn row over Udta Punjab continues in future.
