Twinkle Khanna and Govinda have worked in just two films but their chemistry was adored by the fans. Recently, Khanna penned a reply for those who cracked Akhiyon Se Goli Maare jokes after Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg earlier this month. She took to her column and addressed the matter.
In her column for The Times Of India, Twinkle Khanna spoke about comedy and comedians. She mentioned how comedians will always have an upper hand. She addressed the jokes around Govinda’s accident and spoke about how people joke about the misfortunes of other people. She added that this was called the Superiority Theory where a person punches down and cracks a joke about someone who is in a worse condition than them.
Khanna wrote, “Modern theorists tend to split jokes into three main categories. There is the Superiority Theory, where laughter is found at the expense of another’s misfortunes. This is perhaps why people enjoyed memes with ‘Akhiyon se goli maare’ when one of my favourite comedians, Govinda, accidentally shot himself in the leg.”
Govinda was discharged from the hospital last week after he accidentally shot himself in the leg. The revolver of his gun accidentally went off on Tuesday morning when he was about to leave for the airport from his house. He was visited by many Bollywood celebrities in the hospital. Raveena Tandon also made her way to the hospital to meet the actor with whom she has worked on some of the biggest hits of the 90s. As she made her way to the hospital, fans joked about her wearing sunglasses to the hospital so that she wouldn’t ‘shoot him with her eyes’. This was a reference to their hit song – Akhiyon Se Goli Maare.
On the work front, Govinda was last seen in Rangeela Raja in 2019. Khanna, on the other hand, has stepped away from acting. She is currently a best-selling novelist and a columnist.
