Popular Bollywood films like No Entry, Bunty Aur Babli, Garam Masala and Salaam Namaste were released in 2005. The year was filled with blockbuster films starring the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and many others. Each year, a film registers its name in the list of sleeper hits, scoring an unexpected number at the box office. Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh-starrer Kyaa Kool Hain Hum was that film of 2005. Beating the likes of Sarkar and Bluffmaster at the box office, the film emerged as an unexpected hit at the box office. It was directed by Sangeeth Sivan and starred Isha Kopikar and Neha Dhupia in prominent roles, apart from the lead actors.
Kya Kool Hain Hum was not a big budget film. The makers had reportedly spent Rs 5 crore on its making. It was jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures. Made under a budget of Rs 5 crore, the film unexpectedly earned Rs 22 crore worldwide at the box office. In India, it earned Rs 15.34 crore. It was the fifth highest-grossing film of that year.
Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s film Sarkar was released in the same year, which proved to be a semi-hit at the box office. Abhishek Bachchan’s Bluffmaster also did not work its magic. The film was a semi-hit in terms of earnings. Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor-starrer No Entry topped the box office charts in 2005. It was followed by Bunty Aur Babli, Garam Masala and Salaam Namaste.
The film Kya Kool Hain Hum was centred around the lead characters of Rahul and Karan which was played by Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh. The film was full of comedy.
