Building on the excitement of her Grammy victory, Swift dropped a bombshell announcement, mentioning her 11th studio album, titled, The Tortured Poet's Department.

In a momentous triumph at the Grammys, Taylor Swift clinched her 13th win and secured the prestigious Best Pop Vocal Album award for Midnights. Overflowing with gratitude, Swift began her speech by acknowledging the Recording Academy and attributing the occasion to the passion of her fans: “Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way. But I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.”

Building on the excitement of her Grammy victory, Swift dropped a bombshell announcement, mentioning her 11th studio album, titled, The Tortured Poet’s Department, during the same speech. She teased her dedicated fan base with a secret she had kept for a couple of years: “So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out on April 19.”

Swift, known for her chart-topping hits like Love Story, shared more details about her upcoming album, saying, “It’s called the Tortured Poets Department. I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you. Thank you.”

Scheduled for April 19, 2024, Swift’s announcement on Instagram included a visually captivating black and white cover art reveal. This color scheme, seen in her Grammys ensemble and social media profile pictures, hints at the album’s aesthetic and potential artistic direction. Swift’s caption, “All’s fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19.”

The fervour intensified as fans eagerly awaited the release of The Tortured Poet’s Department, Swift’s labor of love spanning the past two years. The album, featuring 16 tracks in its standard version, will also offer a deluxe edition with an exclusive bonus track titled The Manuscript.

Swift also uploaded the album’s cover to X (formally known as Twitter) after leaving the stage, with a photo of lyrics that read: “And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, / tick, / tick, / of love bombs, / my veins of pitch black ink.” The image was signed by The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department.

Having amassed 52 Grammy nominations throughout her career, Swift secured six nominations this year, notably contending for the coveted Album of the Year award. According to The Guardian, a potential victory would mark her as the first artist to clinch Album of the Year four times, currently sharing the three-time record with music legends Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon.
