Bollywood actress Tanishaa Mukerji, known for her performance in the critically acclaimed film Sarkar Raj, is often compared to her mother, veteran actress Tanuja, and sister, actress Kajol. In a recent chat with The Indian Express, Tanishaa said these comparisons don’t bother her. She shared that Kajol had a different journey and has been working since she was 16 years old.
Tanishaa said, “These things don’t bother me. I can’t look at my sister and me and compare. I don’t even compare myself to other actors, why will I compare myself to my sister? Every actor and star has their own journey, that’s what I believe. And yes, my career was not as good as my sister’s, but she started when she was 16. I got so much privilege because she was in the industry. I thank her career for giving me whatever I needed. At the end of the day, I had a very comfortable career. I didn’t have to work. So from that aspect, I never compare. I think the world loves to keep comparing, I don’t live in that space.”
In an earlier chat with Bollywood Hungama, Tanishaa had said, “We don’t compare each other. The comparison has been in the mind of the public. When you are a newcomer with privilege, they don’t get a chance to make too many mistakes. They don’t get a chance to learn on the job.”
Tanishaa Mukerji showcased her dancing skills in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, delivering memorable performances throughout her journey. In the show’s first episode, Tanishaa shed light on getting continuously compared with her sister, Kajol and mother Tanuja. Expressing her thoughts, she said, “Meri family mein Ajay Devgn, Kajol sab star hai, main uss Mukaam tak nahi pahuchi, I am not a star. (In my family, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, everyone is a star; I haven’t reached that position, I am not a star).”
She also said that with maturity, she finds it easier to accept these comparisons and now laughs thinking about them. She acknowledged that initially, she used to ignore such comments, but now, she believes that people who troll and compare are not revealing anything about her but are exposing their own insecurities on social media.
