Manjummel Boys has now received praise from all quarters, including directors like Venkat Prabhu and Pa Ranjith. Venkat and Ranjith talked about their views at the promotional event of the film J Baby. Venkat said, “I am so proud of the success of Manjummel Boys in Tennessee. At a time when hero-heroine films work well, it is commendable to see a film with no heroine but only a bunch of boys working better than our films in Tamil Nadu. This proves that language is not important; only art matters.”

Pa Ranjith also applauded Manjummel Boys, saying that it is a very simple film with no unnecessary songs for the actors. According to him, the film formed an emotional connection with the cinemagoers with just one song in the climax.

The fact that Manjummel Boys is based on a true story adds to its allure and keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. This film is based on a real-life incident that happened in 2006 when a group of 11 friends had the scariest experience of their lives in Kodaikanal. While exploring the Guna caves, one of the youngsters named Subhash Chandran had fallen into a pit. At that moment, Siju David — also known as Kuttan — came forward to risk everything to go over 85 feet down and save Subhash.
