Stree 2 Spoilers Ahead: Stree 2 featured a huge surprise! The second half of the film featured a cameo by Akshay Kumar. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa star appeared to be just a catalyst in the film. However, the post credits scene revealed he has a ‘killer’ future in Dinesh Vijan’s Horror-Comedy Universe, formally known as Maddock Supernatural Universe.
Warning, spoilers ahead:
Akshay Kumar appeared in Stree 2 as a patient in a psychiatric hospital in Bhopal. He is shown as the person who has the key to take down Sarkata, the massive villain in the film. His character tells Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi that he comes from the lineage of the vicious villain. Thus explaining how he has details about the villain.
However, the post-credits scenes reveal there is more to Akshay’s cameo than what meets the eye. The film sets him up as the new villain, seemingly a supervillain, who will return on a grander scale in an upcoming Maddock Supernatural Universe film. In the scene, Sarkate’s remains land on Akshay’s doorstep. When he opens it, the remains find their way into his body, hinting that he was Sarkate and he has a larger role to play in the future. It remains unclear which film he will return in and what kind of role he will play.
This is not his first horror-comedy film. Akshay was a pivotal part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which released in 2007, and was a massive success. The actor couldn’t reprise the role in the second film, which released in 2022, and Kartik Aaryan filled his shoes. The actor is also leading the third film of the franchise. In the meantime, Akshay seems to be gearing to make a strong comeback in the comedy world, and he has started that with Khel Khel Mein.
Coincidentally, Stree 2 clashes with Akshay Kumar’s Independence Day release, Khel Khel Mein. Starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Pragya Jaiswal and Aditya Seal in the lead, the film marks Akshay’s return to the comedy genre after a long break. The film is a remake of the Italian movie, Perfetti Sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers). He also has films such as Welcome to the Jungle and Jolly LLB 3, both inclined heavily towards comedy, in the pipeline.
Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein have got positive reviews from critics.
