Shera, Salman Khan's Bodyguard Of 29 Years, Recalls How He Bagged The Job

Salman Khan’s bodyguard, Shera, has been a steadfast presence in the actor’s life for nearly three decades. Since joining Salman’s security team in 1995, Shera has diligently safeguarded him for the past 29 years. In a recent candid interview, Shera shared insights about his deep bond with Salman Khan, highlighting how their different cultural backgrounds have never hindered their strong relationship. Shera also proudly declared that no one else can provide the level of care and protection he offers to a star like him.

Recalling how he started working for Salman Khan, Shera shared with Zoom that it was the actor’s brother, Sohail Khan, who recommended him for the job. Shera explained, “First time I met him at a show, and Sohail bhai ne bualaya tha mujhe. Security chahiye thi bhai ke liye, kuch issue hua the stage show pe tabhi. Jab Sohail bhai ne mujhe dekha ki tu kyu nhi karta hain. Sohail asked, ‘Why don’t you go with Salman bhai?’ I said yes. Fir mai shows pe jana shuru kiya bhai ke saath and gradually, we developed a bond with him. (First time I met him on a show and Sohail Khan had called me. They needed security for Salman Khan as there were some issues on the stage show. Sohail asked me if I could go with Salman Khan and I said yes. Then I started going on the shows and gradually developed a bond with him).”

Shera has demonstrated unwavering dedication to his role over the years, and he credits his strong bond with Salman Khan for making his job easier. He said, “Humari bonding itni majboot thi, majboot hai. Mai ek Sardaar hu, woh Pathaan, toh bolte hai na jodi jamti hai. Toh maine bhai ko bola tha, jab tak mai hu, mai aapke saath hi rahunga aur aapki seva karunga. (Our bond is so strong. I am a Sardar, he is a Pathaan, and our jodi just clicks. I told Bhai, As long as I am here, I will serve you).” During the interview, Shera also noted that while bodyguards are often changed, he remains confident that no one else can manage Salman Khan quite like he does.

Shera, whose real name is Gurmeet Singh Jolly, is associated with the security firm Tiger Security. Beyond his well-known role as Salman Khan’s bodyguard, Shera has also provided security for prominent figures such as singers Whigfield and Diana King, as well as the legendary Michael Jackson.
