Shabana Azmi has come a long way in showbiz. The actress recently shared that, that she’s had a career revival, and that she’s enjoying her second innings as an actor. With this, the veteran star also credited her Amar Akbar Anthony co-star Amitabh Bachchan for paving that way. Shabana Azmi and Amitabh Bachchan worked together in films like Amar Akbar Anthony and Parvarish.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Shabana shared in an interview, “I really think it’s got a lot to do with Amitabh Bachchan. Because Amitabh Bachchan has cleared the field for senior actors. The women’s movement all over the world has also definitely influenced films somewhere or the other. (It’s just me) being in the right place at the right time.”
She further added, “I will die in my working boots. Whether someone gives me work or not, I don’t know, but I will be an actor till I pass away. Because also what’s happened is in the process, when the second wing happened, I got such different parts. The thing I love doing the most is acting. It’s created a different kind of energy. I’ve never had a problem with my age. I’ve embraced my age. I never thought of looking like someone less than my age because the graceful thing is to age. Everyone does.”
Shabana Azmi is thriving in her second innings, with a diverse range of projects in both Bollywood and Hollywood. Her recent and upcoming works include Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Ghoomer, Halo, and What’s Love Got To Do With It. She has also appeared in the second season of The Invincibles.
Shabana Azmi’s upcoming project is the Netflix India crime drama series “Dabba Cartel”, while Amitabh Bachchan is basking in the praise for his portrayal of Ashwatthama in the Telugu sci-fi film “Kalki 2898 AD”. Next, he will make his Tamil debut in “Vettaiyan”, marking a reunion with Rajinikanth after 33 years since their last collaboration in “Hum”.
