Scarlett Johansson Says She 'Blacked Out' On Hearing Colin Jost’s Joke About Her On Saturday Night Live
Scarlett Johansson disclosed that a joke about her physique was unexpectedly delivered on Saturday Night Live.

Colin Jost and Michael Che’s annual joke exchange has become a standout segment on Saturday Night Live (SNL), but Scarlett Johansson is not a fan of their antics. This tradition involves Jost, who is married to Johansson, and his co-host Che, surprising each other with controversial jokes live on air without prior context. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Johansson described the experience as “brutal." She revealed that a recent joke about her physique, delivered unexpectedly during the segment, caught her off guard. Johansson admitted she was so taken aback that she blacked out for a moment when her own photo appeared.

In Clarkson’s show, the host showed the footage of Jost, where he was tricked into roasting her wife live on air. He said, “ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character, which I’ve never bothered to watch, because without that body, what’s the point of listening?"

Sharing her opinion, Scarlett Johansson said, “That’s like a tame version, if you guys have ever seen the jokes. We need to go into like witness protection after that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be like targeted. It’s so bad. I black out for that period of the night. I actually don’t remember it. It is brutal. I feel like every year it gets worse. It’s just terrible. It’s painful. I actually don’t remember that segment. I fully blacked out and they do it at Christmas too. It’s like a little gift to each other."

During the Christmas 2023 segment on SNL, Colin Jost read Michael Che’s script that made fun of his wife, Scarlett Johansson, by comparing her to a civil rights figure. The joke mentioned a new law in New York which allowed alcohol in movie theatres and Jost joked that was the only way he could enjoy Johansson’s art movies. He then said a fake apology, also written by Che, claiming he loved all of Johansson’s movies and humorously suggested that she was a better Black Widow than Coretta Scott King.

Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson first crossed paths in 2017 when the Hollywood beauty hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live. Their relationship quickly blossomed, leading to their marriage in 2020 and the birth of their son, Cosmo, in 2021. Johansson also shares a 9-year-old daughter named Rose from her previous marriage with French journalist Romain Dauriac.
