American actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter recently opened up about her close bond with Taylor Swift during an appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning. Carpenter shared her experiences of being in the presence of the 34-year-old superstar, highlighting the influence Swift has had on her journey. The Espresso hitmaker didn’t hold back in expressing her heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the support she has received from Swift.
Sabrina, who has been the opening act for the pop singer’s record-breaking Eras Tour between 2023 and 2024, said, “You just watch her, like, walk in a room, and it’s very easy to understand that she’s so composed, she’s graceful, she’s gracious.” When the Please, Please, Please singer was asked about the advice Swift gave to her for handling fame, she shared, “I wouldn’t say it’s, like, a verbal thing as much as just, like, she’s very supportive of me and knows who I am as a person and is very supportive of that. I’m grateful for that.”
Sabrina continued discussing how to handle the fame and added that there’s no one-size-fits-all advice and each individual has a unique experience on dealing with it all.
Sabrina also shared her views on handling fame, emphasising that there’s no universal playbook for managing it. She noted that each person’s journey is unique, highlighting the importance of embracing one’s individual experience in the spotlight. “There’s no kind of blanket statement or advice on how to not let it rattle you. You just kind of have to exist and figure out what you can handle and what you don’t want to deal with. I know that sounds a little vague but I really do think that you find the people that you surround yourself with that make you feel safe and go from there,” she said.
In another segment of the interview, Sabrina Carpenter cleared the air about not writing her songs on her own. Sharing that people have a “misconception” that she doesn’t write her songs, Sabrina said, “I think a lot of people think because I have, you know, a producer and co-writers that I love, that I’m sitting in the room on my phone, not writing songs.”
Currently dazzling audiences on her Short n’ Sweet tour, the singer has openly shared her admiration for Taylor Swift even in the past. In an August 2024 cover story interview with Variety, Sabrina talked about her “best, best” friendship with the Cruel Summer singer. “She’s just such a gangster with all of it. No matter what people are saying, everything that I’ve ever seen her tackle, she’s done so with grace,” shared the Feathers singer.
Sabrina celebrated a significant milestone in her career at the 2024 MTV VMAs when received her first-ever Song of the Year award for her hit single Espresso.
