Rhea Kapoor Supports Blake Lively Amid Criticism Over It Ends With Us Promotional Campaign
Rhea Kapoor dropped a comment on Blake Lively’s Instagram, addressing the criticism around her promotional campaigning.

Blake lively, following her latest release It Ends With Us, has hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons. The actress is facing criticism for her ‘tone-deaf’ promotional strategy for the film which is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. As fans call out Blake for her ‘insensitivity’ to belittle the issue of domestic violence that her film addresses, producer Rhea Kapoor came out in her support. She dropped a comment on Blake’s Instagram, addressing the criticism around her promotional campaigning.

Rhea Kapoor wrote, “The commentary on the marketing of the film is so sad. More power to Blake, Colleen and the producers for promoting the crap out of this movie. As a filmmaker, we know how difficult it is to bring real women’s stories into the mainstream and share them with as many people as possible. Celebrate women that we see everyday that have been through this and come out stronger and embrace their light. Normalise telling their stories instead of throwing them into a box.”

Further, Rhea Kapoor also called out those criticising Blake Lively for wearing ‘pretty dresses’ during the promotions of a film that addresses a serious issue of domestic violence. She added, “You want to shame the actress for wearing pretty dresses for the press tour instead? What was she supposed to do? Hide at home in sweats? a great way to ensure even fewer of these stories are told. And so what if she promoted her brand she’s a business woman and she’s doing press god how judgmental. Are. We.”

To give you some context, Blake Lively’s promotional approach for her recently released film It Ends With Us has not sat down well with the netizens. The Internet believes that the actress has been promoting the movie as though it’s a rom-com, instead of using the platform to talk about domestic violence. Many also labeled her ‘insensitive’ for using the press interviews to promote her beauty brand and show off her fashion game. Another reason she was caught in the controversy is her idea to promote her husband Ryan Reynolds’ alcohol brand during the same campaign.

Produced by Wayfarer Studios, It Ends With Us features Blake Lively opposite Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar. The plot of the film explores the life of a woman named Lily who overcomes a traumatic childhood only to get stuck in another abusive relationship with her partner Ryle.
