Poonam Pandey, Alive, Fights Back Tears as She Reveals Her Mom Had Cancer: 'I Know What We Went...'
Poonam Pandey confirmed that she is alive a day after news of her 'death' made the headlines. She said her mother was a cancer patient as well.

Poonam Pandey not only confirmed that she is alive but also revealed her mother battled cancer. The actress-model appeared in an Instagram Live session to confirm she is okay and clarified that she took this drastic step to shed light on Cervical cancer. In the same session, she revealed that her mother battled with cancer as well. She was visibly shaken and fought back her tears as she spoke about her mother.

“My mom had cancer. My mom was very ill while she was going through it. I am glad, since yesterday, all I am seeing and reading is about cervical cancer,” she said, in a conversation with Hauterrfly. “I know what we went through, the whole house was shaken up,” she added.

Addressing the reactions she’s been receiving for faking her death, Poonam said, “I know I am going to get a lot of gaalis, my best friend is angry with me. I feel terrible.” Poonam shared, “I know this is not a joke, at least my message has reached right.”

Poonam’s team issued a statement on her Instagram account on Friday that she had died due to Cervical cancer. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the post read.

On Saturday, Poonam returned on the platform and clarified that she is alive. In a video she shared on Instagram, Poonam said, “I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine,” she said.
