Nushrat Bharucha on Working with Rajkummar, Ayushmann: I Greenlit the Films Before They Became Stars
This year, Nushrat Bharucha will be seen opposite Rajkummar Rao in Turram Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana in Dream Girl.

After having a successful 2018, courtesy Luv Ranjan’s super-hit Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, in which she starred alongside Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha is looking forward to an even more exciting 2019.

The 33-year-old will be seen opposite two of Bollywood’s current favourites—Rajkummar Rao in Turram Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana in Dream Girl. However, she says she did not sign the projects because of Rao or Khurrana’s star value. In fact, she says she agreed to do these films much before they became all the rage.

“I was drawn to the stories and green-lit them before Stree and AndhaDhun became hits. I wanted to work with great actors. They became stars later," she told Mid-Day.

Interestingly, Bharucha has been shooting both Turram Khan and Dream Girl simultaneously in Delhi and Mathura, respectively. Talking about her equation with Khurrana, whom she did not know before they began filming Dream Girl, she said, "The process of getting to know a person can also be suitable in building a good chemistry. In the past, I have always known the actors I've collaborated with, be it Kartik [Aaryan] or Rajkummar [Rao]. That wasn't the case with Ayushmann. While working together, we discovered a novelty to our equation."

On the commonalities between them, she added, "We bond over shayaris and music. We often chat between our shots. While shooting for a romantic song, we were told to merely talk to each other. The makers have captured a wonderful montage of us having a regular conversation."
