Palakkad: Noted Malayalam actor Vijayan Peringode passed away at his residence here in the early hours on Wednesday, after suffering from cardiac arrest. 66-year-old Vijayan who stepped into the Malayalam film industry as a production executive has made more than 40 cine appearances.
Vijayan, who had been a regular face in movies directed by senior directors Sathyan Anthikkad and Lal Jose made his acting debut in the 1983 movie ‘Asthram’ directed by PN Menon.
Meesha Madhavan, Devasuram, Kilichundan Mambazham, Pattalam, Achubinte Amma and Celluloid are the other noted movies he has acted in. Vijayan has also assisted Balachandra Menon and IV Sasi in their films.
Vijayan is survived by his wife Chanjalakshi and three children, Kannan, Anadapadmanabhan and Gayathri. Last rites of Vijayan will be performed at his hometown Palakkad at 4 pm today.
Entire Malayalam film industry including veteran stars Mammootty and Mohanlal condoled the death of the ace actor.
