Mickey 17 Trailer: Robert Pattinson Faces Death Many Times In Bong Joon Ho's New Sci-fi
Directed by Bong Joon Ho, Mickey 17 is adapted from the sci-fi novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The upcoming film has an ensemble cast including Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, Naomi Ackie and Toni Collette, alongside Robert Pattinson.

Imagine dying over and over again. That’s the life (or many lives) of Robert Pattinson’s character in the upcoming film Mickey 17. The first trailer for Mickey 17 reveals that Pattinson’s character undergoes repeated cloning as part of his mission to explore a hazardous alien planet. In the 2-minute 20-second trailer, Pattinson doesn’t just play one Mickey — he plays many, because every time Mickey dies, he gets cloned. As an explorer on a hostile alien planet, Mickey faces all kinds of dangers, and let’s just say, death is part of the job description.

Whether he’s drowning in icy waters, tumbling into a frozen ravine, or getting shot, it seems like Mickey can’t catch a break. But each time, a new Mickey takes his place, carrying all the memories of his previous selves.

“Hey Mickey, what’s it like to die?" several characters ask him throughout the trailer. But even with all his experience, Mickey still doesn’t have a clear answer. “Even on my 17th go around, I hate dying," he says, proving that death doesn’t get any easier no matter how many times you experience it.

At one point in the trailer, a robotic voice asks, “Hi Mickey, are you experiencing any vertigo?" To which Mickey, moments before losing his hand to flying space debris, casually responds, “I guess I am feeling a little dizzy." His severed hand floats past a window where space travellers are enjoying coffee. For everyone else, Mickey’s constant deaths are no big deal, but for Mickey, it’s a whole different story.

In the trailer, he also stumbles upon another version of himself, realising he’s one of many clones.
