Marathi Filmmaker Vijay Kondke Returns To Direction After 24 Years With Lek Hawaira Ter Ashi
The Maherchi Sadi director concluded by saying that his new film Lek Hawaira Ter Ashi which will be released on April 26 will also receive the love of fans.

Marathi director Vijay Kondke, acclaimed for his work on the iconic film Maherchi Sadi, is returning to the director’s chair after 24 years with his latest project, Lek Hawaira Ter Ashi, set to hit cinema halls across Maharashtra on April 26. Reflecting on his journey, Kondke expressed gratitude for the opportunity to helm Maherchi Sadi, attributing the chance to his desire to direct and the encouragement he received from his late uncle, actor Dada Kondke.

Addressing speculation about a potential sequel to Maherchi Sadi, Kondke clarified in an interview with the Times of India, stating, “While I did announce the sequel, the project hasn’t progressed yet. Lead actors are yet to be finalised and the absence of key cast members such as Vikram Gokhale, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, Ramesh Bhatkar and Bhalchandra Kulkarni has temporarily put the project on hold.” In the meantime, Kondke is fully focused on Lek Hawaira Ter Ashi.

Interestingly, during the development of Maherchi Sadi, Kondke had hoped to cast actress Bhagyashree in the lead role. Despite waiting for her response for eighteen months, the collaboration did not materialise, leading to Alka Kubal ultimately assuming the role alongside a talented ensemble cast including Ramesh Bhatkar, Vikram Gokhale and others.

Beyond his directorial ventures, Kondke has played a pivotal role in distributing several successful films associated with Dada Kondke, including Songadya Pandu Hawaldar, Bot Lavin Tithe Gudgulya, Tumcha Aamcha Jamla, Ram Ram Gangaram and Aali Angavar. With a proven track record of box-office hits, anticipation is high for Lek Hawaira Ter Ashi to follow suit.

Vijay Kondke’s return to directing after more than two decades, coupled with his rich legacy in Marathi cinema, promises an exciting chapter in Maharashtra’s film industry, as audiences eagerly await the release of Lek Hawaira Ter Ashi and the continued contributions of this veteran filmmaker.
