Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar marks Manisha's reunion with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali after a remarkable 25-year hiatus.

Manisha Koirala is gearing up for her much-anticipated role in the upcoming period drama series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. This project marks her reunion with the esteemed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali after an impressive hiatus of 25 years. Recently, Manisha shared a captivating photo featuring her co-stars from the series – Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal. In the snapshot, all the actresses exude elegance, adorned in the exquisite heavy embroidered suits designed by Rimple and Harpreet Narula.

Sharing the stunning photo, Manisha wrote in the caption, “It was fun working with gorgeous and super talented ladies!! Watching their professionalism and dedication to shine was inspiring!! We missed our captain of the ship during this photo shoot.”

On February 18, Manisha unveiled a teaser of the series, providing a tantalising glimpse into the captivating world of Heeramandi. The teaser kicks off with Manisha Koirala, followed by Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sonakshi Sinha, all dressed in yellow suits. Accompanying the post is a caption that read, “Sneak peek into Heeramandi, a place where courtesans were queens.”

During the Next on Netflix India event, Manisha expressed her admiration for the project’s excellence. She shared, “To be collaborating with Sanjay 25 years after his first film, Khamoshi, it can’t get better than Heeramandi. It’s been an incredible journey; I’ve witnessed his evolution as an artist, a maestro, and a genius. He is India’s best, the greatest filmmaker in India.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar transports audiences into a world of opulence and intrigue, where tales of love and betrayal unfold amidst the lives of courtesans in pre-independence India.

Manisha, portraying the character of Mallikajaan in the upcoming eight-part period drama series, has previously collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on his directorial debut film Khamoshi: The Musical (1996).

Apart from Heeramandi, Manisha will also star in Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming biographical drama film Emergency. This movie delves into true events from 1975, depicting incidents that unfolded under the leadership of Indira Gandhi, a prominent figure in Indian history. Additionally, the film stars Anupam Kher and Kangana Ranaut in pivotal roles.
