The film Vadakkan was screened alongside other six projects at the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film Fantastic Pavilion.

The Malayalam movie Vadakkan was screened at the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film Fantastic Pavilion. Backed by Offbeat Studios and directed by Sajeed A, this film is set apart because it’s the only Malayalam film among the seven special screenings at the event. The film features Kishore and Shruthy Menon in the leading roles.

Vadakkan transports viewers into the world of Vadakkan, mixing supernatural elements with old stories from North Malabar. The film boasts a stellar team including Resul Pookutty, Kieko, Bijibal and Unni R., the movie promises to grab your attention with its compelling storyline and visuals.

The film Vadakkan was screened alongside other six projects at the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film Fantastic Pavilion. This introduces filmmakers to different genres of films. Pablo Guisa, who runs the Fantastic Pavilion at Cannes Marché du Film, said, “We’re really happy to show Vadakkan as one of our top screenings. The movie is a mixture of mystery, old stories, and supernatural elements on a global scale. Vadakkan talks a gripping story in its style. The film shares how strong Indian cinema is in the global genre scene.”

“It is an honour to be exhibiting at the Northern Fantastic Pavilion. When the diversity of Malayalam cinema and the culture of Kerala is presented through such a story in the background of secrecy, it creates a lot of hope in the audience,” said the organisers of the festival.

Supernatural thriller Vadakan is a film based on Kerala’s cultural heritage. The movie is likely to garner the attention of audiences across the world,” he added.

It has been reported that there are plans for the film to be released in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.
