Mahira Khan Reveals This Life Lesson She Learnt From Shah Rukh Khan
From answering queries about her life learnings from Shah Rukh Khan to upcoming projects, Mahira conducted an AMA session.

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan shared a powerful lesson that she said she picked from fellow actor, Bollywood’s king Khan, Shah Rukh Khan while they were working on Raees. Since she’s in an undisclosed city where X (formerly Twitter) isn’t blocked, Mahira began a segment aptly called #AskMahira, wherein she told her fans to submit questions.

When asked about her learnings from working with SRK, Mahira simply said those immortal words, “Give happiness a chance, baby.”

Speaking at the 2016 Faiz International Festival, Mahira Khan recalled the moment that highlighted her family’s response when they learnt she had the opportunity to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan. At first, the actress’ family did not believe her. The Humsafar actress had to clarify that she was indeed cast opposite SRK. After hearing the news, her mother cried tears of joy.

Mahira also shared how she got cast in the film Raees. She said that during the promotion of her previous soap Humsafar, she was informed about a “big film”. When learning that it was an Excel production she was confused in regards to the details. But when she demanded the script the answer was, “What yaar! It is a Shah Rukh Khan film”.

Cut to today, Mahira’s critically appreciated movie The Legend of Maula Jatt is set to release in Indian theatres on October 2, 2024. This is the first time when a Pakistani movie is going to hit the Indian theatre after a gap of more than a decade. The movie also stars Fawad Khan and will first be released in a few theatres in Punjab only.

While The Legend of Maula Jatt was released in Pakistan in 2022, it went on to record high box office collections making it the highest-earning Pakistani film. The producer was quoted by Money Control saying that it has a good future in India, “It has a great chance to become a huge hit.”

To eliminate any controversy and negativity, the decision was made to target the release of the movie only in Punjab to gauge the current attitude of Indians towards Pakistani films. A positive response can open up the agency to allow its release in other states of the country.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is a fresh take on the 1979 Pakistani film of the same name and features the enmity between the characters Noori Natt and Maula Jatt portrayed by Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fawad Khan respectively.
