Every good story must come to an end, but when a fan-favourite show like Love Next Door bids farewell, it does so with flair. Viewers were reportedly glued to their screens for the finale of the Korean drama, eagerly waiting to see how the romance would unfold. And it seems the show did not disappoint. With its leads, Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min and a heartwarming storyline, this drama impressed viewers across the world. But while Love Next Door was saying its goodbyes, another drama was just picking up steam – Iron Family.

Let’s dive into how Sunday, October 6, played out in terms of viewership numbers.

According to Nielsen Korea, Love Next Door finished strong with an impressive 8.5 per cent nationwide rating, the highest it’s ever achieved since it first hit the screens. The romantic comedy follows the journey of two childhood neighbours growing up together. Jung So-min plays the role of Baek Seok-ryu, who excels at everything she does. However, life takes a turn when she is forced to resign from her high-paying job. Meanwhile, Jung Hae-in’s character, Choi Seung-hyo, is a young and successful architect who’s always had his life figured out. Their paths cross once again, leading to a story filled with love, laughter and the challenges of adulthood.

But while Love Next Door was basking in the glory of its finale, Iron Family was making waves of its own. The drama, starring Geum Sae-rok, Kim Jung-hyun, Choi Tae-joon and more, scored a whopping 15.4 per cent for its fourth episode, making it the most-watched drama on Sunday. This gripping mystery tells the tale of a three-generation family of cleaners who unexpectedly come across a fortune. The show dives deep into family dynamics, secrets and the pressures of modern life, keeping viewers hooked with every twist.

Not to be left out, DNA Lover, featuring Jung In-sun, Choi Siwon and Jeong Eugene, wrapped up its run with a 0.8 per cent rating for its final episode, which is a slight improvement from the previous week. This quirky romance centres around a researcher who, after breaking up with her boyfriend, takes on a journey to find a partner who is genetically compatible with her. Along the way, she meets an obstetrician-gynecologist and a firefighter, leading to a lighthearted exploration of love and friendship.
