On Monday evening, a 120×120-foot hoarding collapsed on a petrol pump in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai due to gusty winds and unseasonal rains, which caused the deaths of nearly 16 people. Reportedly, Kartik Aaryan’s relatives were among the deceased due to the collapse.
According to a report by the Indian Express, Kartik Aaryan’s uncle Manoj Chansoria and his wife Anita stopped at a Mumbai petrol pump on May 13, 2024. The couple was to return to Jabalpur from Mumbai via Indore on May 13. At around 4:30 pm, strong winds knocked down a 250-ton hoarding onto their red SUV at the petrol bunk. Their bodies were retrieved after 56 hours of the accident. The exact time and date has not been available yet.
Reportedly, Manoj and Anita were in Mumbai to complete paperwork for their visa to visit their son Yash, who resides in the United States. On Monday morning, when Yash lost contact with his parents in the evening, he immediately reached out to his father’s colleagues. The report stated, “Their son had been trying to contact them since 5 p.m. on May 13. Unable to reach Manoj, and with Anita not answering her phone, he contacted his father’s colleagues for help.”
With the help of Mumbai police, they traced their last location to Ghatkopar, near the Eastern Express Highway. After hours of searching, they finally found the bodies trapped beneath the collapsed hoarding.
Upon learning this, Yash immediately flew from the US. Their last rites were held on May 16 at Sahar. The final rites took place at a crematorium in Sahar on Thursday. Reportedly, Kartik Aaryan also attended the funeral. Manoj Chansoria, a retired general manager from the Airports Authority of India, is a relative of Kartik Aaryan. The couple was from Jabalpur.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kartik Aaryan is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated film, Chandu Champion. The film is all set to hit the theatres on June 14.
