Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders lifted this year’s IPL trophy. Both were very happy and shared photos on social handles. Well, did you know that during the initial time of creating the team, all the meetings were held at Shah Rukh Khan’s house Mannat? But Juhi Chawla did not attend. In a recent conversation, the actress revealed that reason.
At an event by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry event, Juhi mentioned that Lalit Modi approached her and Shah Rukh to buy a team as he wanted glamorous people as team owners in the IPL. “We didn’t know anything about running a cricket franchise. So I remember going to Shah Rukh’s house for meetings, where (from) putting the jingle together, to thinking of what uniform they’ll have, everything was done in house,” she said and recalled how she didn’t like the first uniform of the players. “He made it black and gold and I was not happy with it. I thought ‘what is this black and gold?’ Because black is considered inauspicious,” she added.
Speaking more on this, Juhi revealed that all the meetings related to the team were held at night at Mannat. “Shah Rukh used to be busy during the days. He was working a lot so our meetings would be scheduled for 10 pm. They would start by 11 pm. Then everyone would talk for a while so by the time the meeting would start, it would be 12-12:30 pm and I would start dozing off in the meeting. After 2-3 meetings, I stopped attending. I said you guys do this, I am not coming,” Juhi was quoted saying.
Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan are very close friends and have worked in many films together. The actress recently revealed that she felt cheated when she first met Shah Rukh Khan. “We had done a movie when even I was still new in the industry, named Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Producer Vivek Vaswani said big things that your hero was in Fauji and he’s very famous and looks like Aamir Khan. In my mind, I pictured a chocolate-faced, good-looking hero, like Aamir. So I said, ‘yes, why won’t I do the movie! When I reached the set, that was when I first saw him. Shah Rukh, patla sa, dubla sa, brown colour ka, white shirt mein duble patle se. Moti naak, mote honth. Maine bola, ‘ye kya hai?’ Ye toh mere saath dhokha ho gaya,” she added.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. Next, he will soon be seen in King. The film is being produced by Siddharth Anand and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh and is also likely to star SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan. Recently, it was revealed that Shah Rukh will be playing a Don in his film. Much like his OG Don role, he will have shades of grey in King.
