IBNLive Movie Awards 2015: Nominees for Best Actress
Take a look at the actresses who left everyone talking about their performances in 2014.

There have been several discussions and heated debates about the most deserving films in 2014. The past year saw an interesting blend of films that won commercial success and critical acclaim. So while the big films got bigger, several offbeat projects also found several takers. In the second edition of IBNLive Movie Awards, we select nominees in various popular categories and allow our readers decide the outcome. Take our poll to vote and choose your favourite performers of 2014.

These are the nominees in the Best Actress category:

Kangana Ranaut (Queen): To call Kangana Ranaut a "versatile" actor is an understatement because she has played more varied roles than most of her contemporaries. She flawlessly played a sweet and amusing and depressing and confident girl in 'Queen' this year. If the viewers adored and instantly fell in love with the film, it was all because of Kangana's ability to show the emotional spectrum with great ease.

Madhuri Dixit (Dedh Ishqiya): Agreed, there is no dearth of natural actresses in Bollywood. But what Madhuri did in 'Dedh Ishqiya' was pure magic. Her character in 'Dedh Ishqiya' is made to be charming, and the way she captured the essence of her character Begum Para is exceptional. From playing the vulnerable widow who organizes a 'shayari' competition at her palace to being a reliable friend to Muniya (Huma Qureshi), she gives a heartfelt performance. The manner in which she incorporates modifications in her tone is flawless.

Priyanka Chopra (Mary Kom): She may have made headlines for winning a prestigious beauty pageant, but over the years she has proved she isn't in the industry solely because of her looks. She is a fan favorite, a global icon and of course, a truly great actor. As Mary Kom she was convincing. Whether it was the accuracy with which she portrayed emotions and or the realism she showed in her struggles to become the five-time world champion, Priyanka stood out.

Vidya Balan (Bobby Jasoos): She was fabulous in 'Kahaani' and 'The Dirty Picture', but with 'Bobby Jasoos' Vidya Balan proved that nothing is supreme than having the potential to leave everyone in splits. With 'Bobby Jasoos', Vidya became everyone's favorite funny actress. Who would have thought that someone who played a geeky teenager in popular TV series 'Hum Paanch' will rule Bollywood and command the same importance that prominent actors enjoy?

Rani Mukerji (Mardaani): Since 'Mardaani' was her comeback film, it had to be powerful. She cusses, barges into the room of goons to combat them, and does just about everything to bust a human-trafficking racket. Rani knew her character Shivani Shivaji Roy, a senior inspector - Crime Branch so well that no other actor could have pulled it off so convincingly.
