Gold Teaser: Akshay Kumar Recreates India's Historic Post-Independence Hockey Win

Ever since Akshay Kumar's Gold was announced, the fans have been curious to get their hands on anything related to the film. The makers, however, decided to surprise fans on Monday evening by dropping the first teaser of the film on social media.

Directed by Reema Kagti, the film stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Kunal Kapoor alongside Akshay Kumar and is set in the post Independence era. Akshay plays a dedicated hockey player, who is as much in love with the sport as he is in with the nation. He dreams to win India its first Gold medal, post the country's independence from the British reign. If the teaser is anything to go by, Akshay will have another patriotism-driven hit to his filmography. The film recreates India's historic win for hockey at the 1948 Olympics.

The film is slated for an Independence Day release.

The actor had first announced the film on his birthday by treating his fans with the film's poster.
