Fardeen Khan Recalls Going The IVF Route When He Had Trouble Having Children: 'Needed Some Time Off'

Fardeen Khan is back and receiving praise for his big OTT debut. After nearly 14 years, he returned with Heeramandi and shared the tough times he faced after his father Feroz Khan’s death. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Fardeen revealed they chose IVF after having difficulties having children.

He said, “I needed some time after I lost my father. It was a tough time for me on a personal level. There were other considerations also, which I have spoken about at other times. We were having challenges having children, and that’s when we decided to take the IVF route. That’s why I needed to take some time off. It wasn’t meant to be this long. I thought only for a few years…get everything settled, but things didn’t happen that way. Then, when my daughter was born, my heart melted, and I thought, let’s spend some time with her.”

He also pointed out that he was lucky enough to take time off. “But I was fortunate that I had the luxury to take that time off. It wasn’t deliberate or conscious, but having said that, when I look back, I wish I hadn’t taken such a long break. Definitely a regret on many levels,” he added.

Meanwhile, Fardeen Khan made his comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The show marked Bhansali’s venture into the OTT world. The show was headlined by Sanjeeda Shaikh, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal and Richa Chadha. Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman also feature in important roles in the show.

Despite being away from the camera for more than a decade, he didn’t have to go through any audition process. In fact, Bhansali was impressed with his very first meeting with Fardeen. “20 minutes into the meeting, Mr Bhansali came along to take a look at me. We had met previously too. And when he was convinced, he agreed to do a look test. I couldn’t believe my luck. I was just so grateful for the opportunity,” said the actor in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha.
