In a treat for his fans, popular rapper Eminem has finally announced his 12th studio album, titled The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). The upcoming album is due in the summer of 2024. After sharing an interesting teaser on social media, the rapper announced his next album, sending his fans into a frenzy. Notably, it was shortly after his NFL cameo that Eminem released the teaser, which shows a true crime reporter discussing the rapper’s titular alter-ego, Slim Shady. “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” the reporter can be heard saying as he describes the concept of the album.
Eminem’s longtime associate 50 Cent is also a part of the trailer, seemingly playing a cameo. “He’s not a friend; he’s a psychopath,” he says, after which the reporter continues, “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
It is then that Eminem himself makes a brief appearance and says, “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”

It is pertinent to note that The Death of Slim Shady is the follow-up to the rapper’s 11th studio album from 2020 Music to Be Murdered By. The album landed at the number one spot on the Billboard 200. Since then, the 51-year-old had been silent about his upcoming ventures.
While the rapper has created suspense about the details of the upcoming new album, the exact release date is yet to be announced. Fans have also been dropping overwhelming responses to the same while some even question whether this will be the end of his alter ego. A fan wrote, “If this is the name of the new album it’s gonna be hard,” while another commented, “THE DEATH OF SLIM SHADY” wait what?!!! This can’t be the last album right? RIGHT?!?”

For the unversed, Eminem created Slim Shady, his alter ego in 1997 during his debut with the Slim Shady EP followed by the Slim Shady LP. His other songs that assume the alter-ego include Guilty Conscience, 97 Bonnie and Clyde, and Kill You. The character is associated with violence and aggression.
