Celebrated directors Guillermo del Toro and Ang Lee will announce the 88th Academy Awards nominations alongside actor and director John Krasinski on Thursday, January 14.

Celebrated directors Guillermo del Toro and Ang Lee will announce the 88th Academy Awards nominations alongside actor and director John Krasinski on Thursday, January 14.

Six weeks ahead of the Oscar ceremony on Sunday February 28th, nominations in 24 categories will be announced at 5.30am local time (1.30pm UTC) from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverley Hills, January 14, 2016.

Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, Oscar nominated in 2007 for "Pan's Labyrinth," will take to the stage with Taiwanese-born Ang Lee, a three-time winner with "Life of Pi," "Brokeback Mountain," and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Together, the pair will announce nominations in a dozen categories, including Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature, and a host of craft awards.

Following them will be John Krasinski, best known for portraying commercial department prankster Jim Halpert in the US version of "The Office."

Krasinski and the Academy's president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, will announce the remaining 12 categories, including those for best actor, actress, supporting actor and actress, best director, and best picture.
