It was in 2003 that Boman Irani became a household courtesy the tremendous critical and commercial success attained by ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, it featured him in the role of a strict professor who makes life difficult for the protagonist.
Shortly thereafter, the actor consolidated his standing in the industry even further, working alongside some of Hindi cinema’s biggest name such as Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan to name a few. He is a versatile performer: During his nearly 14-year-long association with the film industry, Boman has given strong proof of his versatility as a performer, experimenting with his onscreen image. Over the years, he has essayed eccentric comedic characters in films such as ‘Dostana’ and ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. However, at the same time, the actor has also done full justice to negative roles in movies like ‘Don’ and ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’. In a way, Boman’s vast range as a performer has gone a long way in helping him offer something new and exciting every time he faces the arc lights.
He is open to working with big as well as small names: As mentioned earlier, Boman has over the years shared screen space with some of Hindi cinema’s biggest and celebrated names. Moreover, he also worked with some prolific filmmakers such as Karan Johar and Sajid Khan. However, at the same time, he has never shied away from working in smaller films or with upcoming artists. He is a real-life hero: Boman was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He faced many challenges during his formative years. Shortly after completing his education, the actor began working as a waiter at a reputed hotel. After sometime he decided to help his mother run her bakery. These experiences helped Boman understand the harsh realities of life. Interestingly, on the professional front, he did not have a very smooth beginning. The gifted artist entered the industry when he was over 40. While this entry did stunt his prospects, it did not break his spirit. He soon found success and the rest as they say is history. With his determination and grit, he managed to set an example for many.
He is a true family man: Boman has always maintained a very low profile on the personal front. The actor tied the knot with Zenobia Irani in 1985 and has two children. Unlike some of his contemporaries, he rarely talks about his personal life at public events. Furthermore, he is not someone who believes in lavish parties. This was illustrated a few months ago when the actor refrained from throwing a bash on his 30th wedding anniversary and instead spent some quality time with his wife in Maldives.
