Ayushmann Khurrana Is ‘Obsessed’ With Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary’s Laila Majnu: ‘Yeh Film Kaise…’
Directed by Sajid Ali, the romantic drama was released six years ago. Ayushmann Khurrana has praised the film

Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary starrer Laila Majnu has been re-released in theatres and is creating history at the box office. The film has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience. Today, Ayushmann Khurrana also praised the film and said that he is obsessed with this romantic drama.

Ayushmann Khurrana took to his Instagram stories and wrote, “Was always obsessed with the soundtrack, but now I’m obsessed with the film too. The Dream Girl 2 actor continued, “Whatta beauty. Thank you for the purity. Dost kehte reh gaye, pata nahi yeh film kaise miss ho ho gayi. #Laila Majnu. @sajidaliog @imtiazaliofficial @ektarkapoor @avinashtiwary15 @tripti_dimri @iamparmeetsethi @sumitkaul10.” Directed by Sajid Ali, the romantic drama was released six years ago.

Take a look here:

It has scripted a history at the box office. The film has minted Rs 2.6cr in just four days. The Indian Express quoted, “Laila Majnu maintained a steady momentum on day four, with Monday collections of Rs 60 lakh. The film’s four-day collections now stand at Rs 2.6 cr, overtaking its original run of Rs 2.15 cr.” During an interview with IANS, Triptii Dimri revealed that she never auditioned for her role in the movie. She was spotted by the film’s casting head, who thought she looked Kashmiri and suggested she audition for the part. That’s how she got the role. The movie, presented by Imtiaz Ali, was released theatrically on September 7, 2018.

Laila Majnu is set in modern-day Kashmir, where Laila (played by Triptii Dimri) and Qais (played by Avinash Tiwary) are madly in love but can’t be together due to family tensions. Apart from Triptii and Avinash, the film also features Abrar Qazi, Sumit Kaul, Sahiba Bali, Mir Sarwar, Farhana Bhat, and more. Although the film didn’t receive great reviews from critics, its music became a huge hit.

Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly walked out of the sequel of Sunny Deol’s 1997 movie, Border. If a recent report is to be believed, Ayushmann was in talks with the makers of Border 2 for a long time now. Reportedly, he was offered to play the role of an army jawan in the movie. However, he has now backed out of the project because he wasn’t sure about being a part of an ensemble led by Sunny Deol.

“Ayushmann was in talks to play a soldier in the sequel. While both Ayushmann and the makers were keen on collaborating, the actor felt unsure of his positioning in an ensemble led by Sunny, a towering star in his own right,” a source cited by Mid-Day claimed. However, there is no official confirmation of this as of now.

Interestingly, this comes days after it was reported that the globally popular Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is also in talks for Border 2.
