Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara are expected to join hands for the first time, as the latter is gearing up for the film Purananooru. There are also reports that Sreeleela is likely to play the female lead in the film. According to the source, an official announcement is expected to follow soon. The source added that a photo shoot with the actress also took place recently. There’s another update regarding the cast of Purananooru. Reports now suggest that actor Atharvaa will play Sivakarthikeyan’s younger brother in the film. Initially, it was rumoured that Lokesh Kanagaraj would be involved, first as the villain and later as the younger brother. He is said to have stepped away from the project, feeling the role of the brother wasn’t a good fit for him. With this change, Atharvaa has reportedly taken over the role. The film is expected to begin shooting in January next year.
Sivakarthikeyan is awaiting the release of his film Amaran, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. The film is a biopic of the late Major Mukund Vradaharajan and features Sai Pallavi in the female lead role. The actor is also working on his next film with AR Murugadoss. The film is tentatively titled SK X ARM and has Sivakarthikeyan, Rukmini Vasanth, Vikranth and Vidyut Jammwal among others in its ranks.
Sudha Kongara, on the other hand, recently impressed critics with Sarfira. The film was a remake of Suriya’s Soorrarai Pottru and had Akshay Kumar in the lead role. It centres on Veer (Akshay Kumar), a pilot-turned-businessman who tries to make civil aviation more affordable for the common man.
The Hindi-language film stars Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal and R Sarathkumar in the lead roles. Suriya makes a cameo appearance in the intercut scene during the end credits. Sarfira was released on July 12 in theatres.
