After the massive success of Gadar 2, director Anil Sharma is ready to keep the momentum going with not just one, but two highly anticipated projects. In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Sharma provided insights into the progress of Gadar 3 and shed light on his upcoming film Vanvaas, which stars Nana Patekar and his son, Utkarsh Sharma.
Sharma, who is currently immersed in the production of Vanvaas, described the project as an “emotional Gadar” set in modern times. Drawing parallels to his previous films like Shradhanjali, Bandhan Kuchchey Dhaagon Ka, and Apne, he revealed that Vanvaas dives deep into the family genre, something he has been celebrated for. “It is set in Banaras, with the backdrop of the Kumbh Mela. It deals with emotional trauma and the journey of life, connecting with every individual,” Sharma shared, emphasising the universal appeal of the story.
While fans are eager for updates on Gadar 3, Sharma clarified that the film is still in its early stages. “Gadar 3 ki abhi tayariyan chal rahi hain, kahaani chal rahi hai (preparations are in full swing, and we’re working on the script),” he said. However, the director made it clear that his focus remains on Vanvaas for now. The film is expected to be released by the end of this year, after which Sharma plans to dive into the production of Gadar 3.
When asked about the status of another eagerly awaited sequel, Apne 2, which stars Sunny Deol, Sharma chose to remain tight-lipped. “Hum baad mein baat karenge Apne 2 par (We will talk about Apne 2 later),” he said, leaving fans in anticipation.
As Sharma juggles these major projects, it’s clear that his commitment to delivering emotionally charged, resonant films remains unwavering. With Vanvaas on the horizon and Gadar 3 in the pipeline, fans have much to look forward to in the coming months.
