There have long been rumours that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali would throw phones when he would be angry. A few reports in the past have described Bhansali’s anger avatar. But did exhibit similar behaviour when he was working on Heeramandi? Sonakshi Sinha shed light on Bhansali’s behaviour on the sets of Heeramandi. The actress revealed that she had heard the phone-throwing rumours. However, she met a different Bhansali once she walked into the sets of Heeramandi.
Speaking with India Today, Sonakshi said Bhansali was a nurturing soul on the sets. She added that Bhansali is a taskmaster. “Absolute rumours!” she said, speaking about the phone throwing incidents. “But yes, he is a taskmaster, I won’t deny that. But, he deserves every bit of it because see the kind of work and magic that he creates, right? And if somebody does mess with his vision, I think it’s his right to make sure the work gets done,” she added.
“I really enjoyed working with him, and he’s someone who really appreciates talent, so he was very happy with me. I also did hear these rumours before I went to work with him, but I was very, very happy to work with him on set. He can be really nurturing when he sees that an actor is delivering exactly what his vision is, so, I’m blessed that I got to see that side of his,” she said.
Sonakshi Sinha played the role of Fareendan in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. On Wednesday, the actress took to her Instagram handle to share a series of photos from her look test from the series. Besides Sonakshi, Heeramandi also stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal Mehta, Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan, Jason Shah, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman in key roles. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
