Amitabh Bachchan Drops Throwback Photo With Son Abhishek As Yuva Clocks 20 Years: ‘You Are The Best’

Amitabh Bachchan took a trip down memory lane as he celebrated the 20th anniversary of the film Yuva starring his son Abhishek Bachchan. The actor shared a heartfelt throwback photo on social media, accompanied by an emotional message. Amitabh Bachchan even called his best and praised his performance in the film. Yuva was released in 2004 and was directed by Mani Ratnam.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Amitabh Bachchan shared the photo from an award ceremony. He and Abhishek are seen holding the trophy. “When Abhishek won the Award for YUVA .. when his name was announced he took me to the stage and gave the Award to me .. I said ये मेरा नहीं तुम्हारा है , और जो मेरा वो तुम्हारा ..Today celebrating 20 years of its release !!! What a film and what a performance Bhaiyu .. you are the best.” Fans also reacted. One of the fans wrote, “@bachchan I love your name Bhaiyu. My chacha’s nickname is the same.”

The film Yuva stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor and Esha Deol in the lead role.

In an interview with Times Now, Abhishek recalled how Shaad Ali set up a meeting with Mani Ratnam. Initially, he thought Mani wanted to connect with his father, Amitabh Bachchan. “I thought he wanted to get in touch with Dad through me.” To his surprise, Mani wanted to cast him as Lallan Singh. Abhishek was amazed at how simply Mani described such a complex character.

He further shared, “After he told me the story and my character, he said, ‘I forgot to mention the most important thing. Would you like to work with me?’ I just laughed and told him what an honour it would be to work with him. I’m thankful I got Yuva at a time when I really needed it. It boosted my confidence as an actor. I’ve evolved with Mani.”

On the work front, Amitabh has a series of projects in the pipeline. These include Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, and Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth. Vettaiyan marks Amitabh’s Tamil films debut. He also recently wrapped a season of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
