Filmmaker Aanand L Rai is currently working on multiple projects. He recently wrapped the shooting for Atrangi Re starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush. Currently he is shooting his upcoming film Raksha Bandhan, which will star Akshay and actress Bhumi Pednekar. The film, which is touted to be a comedy went on floors in June. Raksha Bandhan’s first schedule was completed shortly after. Now, there is a latest update on the second schedule of the film.
The director will soon be starting with the next leg schedule of the family drama which will begin from September 10 in Delhi with the film’s lead cast and other cast members which include Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Srikanth, who play Kumar’s sisters in the film. Raksha Bandhan is jointly written by Rai’s frequent collaborator Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. The film reportedly revolves around the love, bonding and attachment between a brother and his sisters.
Akshay had recently penned a heartwarming note for the filmmaker and shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets. He wrote, “I’m already missing walking down these streets of Chandni Chowk. Even though it was a make-believe set…you made it look so real, take a bow @sumitbasu62. My wonderful co-star @bhumipednekar , thank you for providing the right balance with your splendid talent. And @aanandlrai sir…what can I say about you, besides that you’re a wizard and today as we wrap up the Mumbai schedule of #RakshaBandhan, I know I’m leaving the set a better actor.”
Meanwhile, the filmmaker had recently produced several films such as Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Haseen Dilruba. His last directorial which released was Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
