Hindi television is vastly influenced by the culture of Maharashtra and has time and again been portrayed through several shows.

Marathi culture is synonymous with vibrancy, colours and liveliness. Hindi television is vastly influenced by the culture of Maharashtra and has time and again been portrayed through several shows. We bring to you a list of shows, which have managed to capture the essence of Maharashtra in its entirety:

Pavitra Rishta: This show through which actor Sushant Singh Rajput rose to fame, was based entirely against the backdrop of a Maharashtrian family. 'Pavitra Rishta' dealt with the issues, complexities and emotions of two individuals Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Archana (Ankita Lokhande) and how their families played a vital role in their respective whole beings. 'Pavitra Rishta' helped us gain an insight into Marathi culture and was tremendously popular among the masses. The various festival celebrations and weddings during the course of the show reflected the Marathi culture in the best way possible.

Ek Mutthi Aasmaan: The show revolved around a middle class Marathi girl (Rachana Parulkar) and her struggle to make her place in the big bad corporate world. The show also starred Aashish Chaudhary and Shilpa Shirodkar as the other leads. 'Ek Mutthi Aasman' threw light on the apprehensions and troubles faced by a middle class family.

Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma: The show revolves around the Gokuldham Co-Operative Housing Society in Mumbai which is a hub of religious tolerance where a string of people from diverse ethnicities live and flourish. An important entity of the society are the Bhides- Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, his wife Madhavi Aatmaram Bhide and their daughter Sonalika Aatmaram Bhide/Sonu. The Bhides add a Maharasthrian element to the housing society which strives to preach the message of 'Unity in diversity'

Sarvagunn Sampanna: The show is set in Kolahpur and is the story of a successful dancer Swara (Pooja Bose) who is time and again criticised for her 'Lavni' (a form of Maharashtrian dance) skills. Swara does not at any point consider her dance to be degrading, she infact considers it to be a way of worshipping god. 'Sarvagunna Sampanna' traces the journey of Swara and how she deals with the stigmas associated with the profession she is in.

Laagi Tujhse Lagan: This hindi show which aired on Colors from 2009-2012, revolved around a girl Nakusha, who is forced to hide her beauty due to certain circumstances. The male lead opposite Nakusha, Dutta Bhau is a rural Marathi Gangster who is good at heart. The serial is about how the two end up together after all the struggles faced by them. Throughout the course of the show, the influence of Marathi culture and traditions was potrayed.
