As per the Vedic calendar, Ekadashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month will commence on September 13 at 10:25 am and end on September 14 at 8:45 am.

Currently, the country is celebrating the extravagant 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Amid this celebration, on the Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month, Parivartini Ekadashi is celebrated which is also known as Jaljhulani Ekadashi. On this day, worshipping Lord Vishnu’s Vamana avatar and Lord Ganesha is considered to remove all sins. Hindus also believe that fasting on this day will help them seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. There is a lot of confusion about whether the fast is on September 13 or 14.

As per the Vedic calendar, Ekadashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month will commence on September 13 at 10:25 am and will end on September 14 at 8:45 am. In Hinduism, fasts and festivals are considered as per the Udaya Tithi. In such a situation, Parivartini Ekadashi Vrat will be observed on September 14, Saturday. As per celebrity astrologer, Praduman Suri, if any planet in the horoscope is in an inauspicious state, then its effect will end.

Jyotish Praduman Suri shared that in every Ekadashi, one must not eat rice at all. Along with this, worshipping the lord during Rahukaal on Ekadashi is prohibited. On Parivartini Ekadashi, Thursday, the time of Rahukaal will be from 13:50 to 15:25. In Mahabharata, Shri Krishna has told Yudhishthir that those who observe the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi and worship Lord Vishnu, they get liberated from their sins.

The fast on Parivartini Ekadashi can help one attain happiness, peace and prosperity, Also, it is believed that a person can get freedom from fear, disease and other health issues. One should recite Vishnu Sahasranama on this auspicious day and engage in donations and charity work.

As per the astrologer, the story of Parivartini Ekadashi is associated with Treta Yug. King Bali was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and had acquired many extraordinary powers through penance and worship and was ruling the Triloks, including Lord Indra’s Devlok. All the gods, including Lord Indra, worshipped Lord Vishnu and prayed for their freedom from Bali. As per the scriptures, Lord Vishnu acquired the form of a Vaman and went to King Bali to ask for land as a part of donation. Not recognising the Lord, the king agreed. Lord Vishnu changed his form to increase his height and kept one step on earth and the other on Swarglok (heaven). Realising that it was Lord Vishnu in Vaman’s avatar, King Bali accepted defeat and offered his head. The Lord placed his foot on Bali’s head and sent him to Paatal Lok. however, King Bali’s wife, Vindhyavli prayed to Lord Vishnu to protect her husband, so He blessed her by saying that those who observed a fast on the day of Parivartini Ekadashi and listened to the story of King Bali would be able to attain salvation.
