This year’s Miss World pageant will be hosted in India, nearly after three decades. The pageant has not been held in India since 1996. The 71st edition of Miss World was originally scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Archana Kochhar, an Indian designer who has carved a way in the fashion business with her innovative creations, has earned her the title of “Official Fashion Designer” for the 71st Miss World pageant. She will showcase her creativity through “Indian tribal and regional arts”.

The designer announced the same on her Instagram handle with pictures and a reel with the reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska. Sharing the exciting news, Archana wrote, “The 71st Miss World Competition is happening in our incredible country, India, after 28 years & we, Archana Kochhar, have been selected as the official fashion designers for this mega event! We are elated to collaborate with such a prestigious platform & I, thank Julia Morley for giving me this opportunity! Stay tuned for 9th March to see our latest collection weaved with love from artisans from all over India!”

Karolina Bielawska can be seen wearing a gorgeous ivory sequinned lehenga. The outfit included a strappy sweetheart-neckline shirt and a pleated skirt, combining traditional themes. Intricate embroidery and mirror work added flair to the attire. The brilliant yellow dupatta, embellished with silver sequinned borders, added a pop of vibrancy. She wore a matching belt around her waist. The designer told ANI, “I have been watching Miss World since my childhood and it’s absolutely legendary. I would like to thank Julia Morley for giving me this beautiful opportunity.”

The current Miss World, who played muse of the stunning attire designed by Archana Kochhar told the portal that the craftsmanship, colours, and the embroidery detailing on the outfit made her feel like she was wearing India’s heritage. She claimed that she felt like, “I was a true Indian princess for a day.”

Archana Kochhar is designing ensembles for the grand finale of the prestigious pageant which will take place on March 9 at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai. All the contenders will be styled in her couture. Moreover, the designer aims to bring forward the “Make in India” on the global stage.
