SHINee's Onew Makes A Comeback After Year-Long Hiatus Over Health Concerns

SHINee’s Onew has made a highly anticipated return to the public eye following a prolonged absence due to health concerns, bringing immense joy to fans worldwide. In June 2023, his previous label, SM Entertainment, had announced that Onew would be taking a hiatus from promotional activities of his group’s album, to focus on his health. At that time, his group had just marked the 15th anniversary of its debut. Soon, through an official statement released by the company on June 9, it was revealed that Onew had pulled back from all professional engagements temporarily.

His fans were also deeply concerned when they observed his frail appearance but rallied around him with unwavering support for his recovery. Thereafter, Onew sought medical attention regarding his health issues and underwent a thorough examination.

Finally, now, almost a year later, on April 20, fans caught sight of Onew at Incheon Airport, where he appeared noticeably healthier. The following day, he made a public appearance at the Mediacorp Entertainment Star Awards 2024 in Singapore, reports Koreaboo.

Fans were overcome with emotion at seeing him grace the red carpet, marking his first public appearance in 10 months. Images and videos from the event captured Onew looking vibrant and cheerful, engaging closely with his adoring fans.

The outpouring of support and admiration from SHAWOLs was evident, with many expressing sheer amazement and joy at witnessing his return to the spotlight.

During the Star Awards ceremony, Onew delivered a heartfelt performance of his song Your Scent and later took the stage to present an award, receiving warm applause and cheers from his fans.

On the professional front, Onew has signed an exclusive contract with GRIFFIN Entertainment after almost 16 years under SM Entertainment. His new profile photos under the label have been revealed, signaling a fresh start for the talented vocalist.
